About

Habecker Mennonite Church is a growing intercultural congregation seeking to pray together, help each other, following Jesus and trust God. Services are conducted in two languages: Karen and English. Every third Sunday the Karen people lead the entire service. Average Sunday morning attendance of 150, with the majority being the Karen people from Burma/Myanmar.  (Learn about the Karen people).

The purpose of this congregation is to promote Anabaptist faith, Christian community, service, and reconciliation in congregational life and in our world. All members are encouraged to engage in praise, study, prayer, caring and hope that lead to lives transformed by Christ. The congregation reaches out in love to all who attend and extends hospitality. The church seeks to be a place of safety for members to explore faith issues, to discover how to live obedient to God’s call and to walk in the way of Christ, with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Most of the congregation comes from Burma/Myanmar, and lived in refugee camps in Thailand.  A growing number of Kar-en’ people are finding a home at Habecker. Our lives have enriched each other in significant ways.  Read more about the transformation at Habecker on the “Who We Are” page.
